My name is Namubiru Shakira, I am from Uganda. I am presently a UCD student, studying Nursing. I go into UCD in 2019 with the Support of Mr. Mubarak Lamidiajao, he guided me through the requirements, application process and available scholarships. He also supported me looking for an accommodation close to UCD.He has been really helpful and provided range of supports for me and my friends. He is a very nice person and would be of great help to other students.

One thing about the memory of my journey to Ireland that I am grateful for is the ease I found. Originally I was afraid with moving and the shock of changing locations but Mubarak simplified the process and was even there when I came here offering support on how to find my and get my basic necessities. I can't have imagined not having such a support. I would recommend him as he is a very gentle and patient guide that understand that incoming people are confused and need help with even the mundane things.

As I prepared to come to Ireland in 2018 to start an MA at UCD, I joined a Facebook group of international UCD students and on one of the many discussion groups was where I met Mubarak. I reached out to him because he’d already been in Ireland for a little while and I figured he would have lots of useful tips for me. This turned out to be an amazing decision as Mubarak was very integral to my settling in as a new student in Ireland. He picked me up from the airport when I arrived and took me to my pre-booked hostel. While I searched for a house, Mubarak was kind enough to show me how to use the transport system; showed me around the city centre and when I mentioned how much o loved museums, he didn’t hesitate to take me on a tour of a number of museums in Dublin. My experience settling in on arrival and getting a good understanding of road networks for walking and using the transportation system are all thanks to Mubarak’s selfless support to a stranger arriving in a new place.

I’m so glad I used LAAM Global, they helped me gained admission to Dublin Business School for my masters in marketing. They were professional from day one and helped me even when I arrived Dublin. They came to pick me up at the airport, helped with registration and everything. Highly recommend.

I had a wonderful time studying abroad at TUS this semester. I met so many new people, made some amazing friends, and learned so much about myself and the world around me. I was very pleased with the work that LAAM Global did for me. I was in a study abroad program for two years, and I had a lot of trouble with the application process. When I got to my host university, I realized that most of my learning was happening outside of class, and it didn't exactly feel like a highlight of my time abroad.
